The plant will be based in the industrial city of Ras Laffan in northern Qatar. It will involve developing a portion of the giant North Field to produce between 750 million and 800 million cubic feet a day to feed the first phase. ConocoPhillips plans to double the capacity of the plant in future.
The estimated cost of the entire project will be $5 billion and it will primarily produce diesel for sell in Asia.
