ConocoPhillips is planning a new appraisal drilling campaign late this year at its Caldita-Barossa gas resource off northern Australia, which is expected to provide future feedstock for the US operator’s liquefied natural gas export project, Darwin LNG.
The drilling is planned as the US independent seeks to build a clear picture of the scale of a planned field development and will comprise the Barossa-5 and Barossa-6 appraisal wells, which will be drilled back-to-back starting in the fourth quarter this year and wrapping up by mid-2017.
