ConocoPhillips has taken a big stride forward on the potential redevelopment of its veteran Tor field off Norway after awarding a contract for the subsea production system and associated infrastructure to TechnipFMC in an apparent snub for local contractor Aker Solutions.
UK-based TechnipFMC will provide the SPS as well as subsea umbilicals, rigid flowlines and related subsea equipment for the Tor 2 project under the “significant” integrated engineering, procurement, construction and installation contract classified as being worth between $75 million and $250 million — marking its first such award with the US operator.
