The contract was awarded by Zakum Development Company (Zadco), which operates the field through a venture involving state-owned Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (Adnoc), ExxonMobil and Japan Oil Development Company.
Upper Zakum is the second largest oilfield in the Persian Gulf and comprises four artificial islands with associated drilling and production facilities.
Amec Foster Wheeler’s workscope includes PMC services as part of the expansion, which will see the field first producing 750,000 barrels per day of oil by 2018.
