Malaysian national oil company Petronas has lured a large group of hungry subsea contractors to compete for potentially lucrative Pan-Malaysia offshore transportation and installation contracts.
Sources said more than 18 contractors attended a recent tender briefing, though a proportion of those were not from the subsea installation sector.
The companies considered to be serious contenders include the incumbent three contractors holding Pan-Malaysia contracts — SapuraKencana Petroleum subsidiary TL Offshore, Barakah Offshore Petroleum subsidiary PBJV and Puncak Niaga division GOM Resources.
