Up to eight contractors are preparing to submit bids later this month to UK supermajor BP for a long-term contract to carry out drilling on the operator’s Berau production sharing contract off Indonesia, which provides feedstock for the Tangguh liquefied natural gas project.
The job, for which the BP is seeking a rig capable of operating in 400 feet of water, is expected to start in the first quarter of next year and involve the drilling of 17 production wells and four wildcats.
