The global natural gas industry must work together to reduce methane emissions if gas is to fulfil its potential as a destination fuel in a low-carbon future, according to industry experts.

The petroleum industry emits nearly 100 billion cubic metres per annum of methane, almost the same as the entire gas production of Norway, says Shan Weiguo, head of gas market research at China National Petroleum Corporation’s Economics & Technology Research Institute, speaking at this month’s LNG2019 conference in Shanghai.
