A controversial bill overhauling how oil and gas activity is regulated in the US state of Colorado was signed into law this week, writes Caroline Evans.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis signed the bill, known as Senate Bill 181, as expected on Tuesday afternoon.
The law gives cities the authority to regulate some oil and gas activities.
In addition, the state regulatory body would see a change in mandate, with its main focus shifting from one of fostering industry investment to one of protecting the environment and the health and safety of residents.
