China's Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC) has awarded a contract to Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Heavy Industry to build the hull of the floating production, storage and offloading vessel to be used on the Liuhua 16-2 oilfield in the South China Sea's Pearl River Mouth basin, writes Xu Yihe.
Beihai offered 620 million yuan ($98 million) in the tender launched by COOEC early this year, in which other northern yards in China including Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) particpated.
