COOEC set to build four platforms for Zawtika 1B gas field

CHINA’S Offshore Oil Engineering Company (COOEC), the engineering division of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), is preparing to build four wellhead platforms for the Zawtika 1B gas field development off Myanmar after signing a letter of intent with Thai operator PTTEP about a month ago, writes Xu Yihe.

In a meeting last week, COOEC decided to deliver the quartet of wellhead platforms in monthly intervals starting from September next year. Sources said a formal commercial contract is expected to be signed in July. COOEC declined to confirm any commercial details.

The four platforms weigh 28,600 tonnes, with the first three weighing 7200 tonnes each and the fourth 7000 tonnes, sources said.
