Offshore drilling contractor China Oilfield Service Ltd (COSL) has chartered two jack-up rigs from China Merchant Heavy Industry (CMHI) to operate in Bohai Bay off northern China.
The deal is expected to help COSL ease rig supply constraints amid drilling campaigns launched by sister company CNOOC Ltd since last year.
The two CJ46-X100-D design rigs, the CMHI 136-1 and CMHI 136-2, are being reactivated at CMHI’s Shenzhen facilities in Guangdong province, where they were warm-stacked until recently.
