Stavanger-based rig contractor COSL Drilling Europe, a division of China Oilfield Services Ltd, has secured a contract for its newbuild semi-submersible rig Hai Yang Shi You 982 with Malaysia’s Tamarind Resources for drilling work in the Tui permit off New Zealand.
The semisub will drill three firm wells, with two optional probes — a development sidetrack and exploration well, with drilling scheduled to start in the second or third quarter of 2019, the contractor said.
