East African Community (EAC) member states Tanzania and Kenya are gearing up to launch major licensing rounds in the coming year or so, spurred on by Uganda’s recently-unveiled acreage offering.

Moreover, Rwanda and Burundi, the two EAC minnows, are also planning their own block offerings.

Tanzania was due to launch its third onshore round this month, but sources said the plans now call for it to be unveiled after presidential elections this November, when oil prices are also expected to be higher.
