Rig owner Pacific Drilling has filed a legal claim against companies who supplied pipe-handling equipment that allegedly malfunctioned, leading to the 2015 death of a crew member in the US Gulf of Mexico.
Pacific and co-plaintiff Gard, the driller’s insurance provider, named National Oilwell Varco (NOV) and Parker-Hannifin in the subrogation claim, filed last week in a Houston court.
The action stems from a tragic incident that occurred on 20 October 2015 onboard drillship Pacific Santa Ana, which was contracted to Chevron at the time.
