Gas was found in a pre-salt Lower Miocene layer at the Cyprus A structure in Block 12, also known as Aphrodite, according to Solon Kassinis, director of energy service at Cyprus’ Ministry of Commerce, Industry & Tourism.
The well is still being drilled by the semi-submersible rig Noble Homer Ferrington and will reach its planned total depth of 5800 metres in about early December, Kassinis told Upstream on the sidelines of Terrapinn’s Deep-water World Asia 2011 conference in Singapore.
