The announcement, contained in the company’s annual report filed with the US Securities & Exchange Commission, closes a chapter on an historic relationship which saw the Italians doing a landmark deal in 1957 with Iran weakening the hold of the big US and UK oil companies.
The Eni statement said that its activities in Iran are now limited to the last stages of transferring operatorship of phases one and two of Darkhovin to Iranians.
