A Hyundai spokesperson confirmed a worker had died from injuries he sustained after falling from a stair tower at the yard in Ulsan on Tuesday afternoon.
Local media identified the worker as a 39-year old man surnamed Shin, adding he was taken to hospital but died two hours later.
There were no witnesses to the incident according to Hyundai, but an investigation is now under way into how Shin fell, with a spokesperson adding he was wearing all required safety equipment when the accident happened.
