OIL producing Cameroon stepped deeper into political chaos last week with the decision to arraign civilian opposition leader Maurice Kamto in a military court for rebellion against President Paul Biya, including charges of “hostility against the homeland” and “incitement to insurrection”, writes Barry Morgan.

Kamto’s Cameroon Renaissance Movement is believed to have won a significant portion of votes cast in last October’s elections and his party claims victory was stolen by a combination of ballot fraud and intimidation.
