The unit is drilling an exploration test in the Gulf of Mexico at Shell's Cheyenne prospect in Lloyd Ridge block 399 in about 8900 feet of water.
The rig had drilled through the upper Miocene objective and reached a depth of 20,000 feet prior to suspension of operations due to the approaching storm.
The well should be completed by the end of the year and partner Anadarko Petroleum has said it is "encouraged" by the results seen in the Miocene section.
