African regional oil demand has increased sevenfold since 1965 and is up 35% since 2006, with Egypt taking the lead followed by Algeria and South Africa, according to the Brussels-based International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP).
In a report released this week, the IOGP highlighted demand growth emerging from Morocco, Senegal, Uganda and potentially Libya, which will be able to draw on some 48 billion barrels of reserves once stability returns.
