Digitalisation forms the basis of Equinor’s technology development plans, writes Ole Ketil Helgesen.
Automated drilling and analysis of data to optimise drilling operation are examples of the new way of thinking in the increasingly digitalised industry, says Equinor vice president for technology management Bjorn Kaare Viken.
“We aim for, and are investing significantly to achieve, a global leadership role within digitalisation in our core areas, which is a more carbon efficient oil and gas production and a steady growth within renewable energy,” he says.
