Chinese operator CNOOC Ltd is looking to put its first high-pressure, high-temperature offshore field, Dongfang 13-2, into production as early as late this year or early next year.
The company is aiming to produce 2.6 billion cubic metres per annum of gas and 43,000 barrels per day of oil when the field, which is located in the western part of the South China Sea, reaches peak production.
