Glaciers around the world are disappearing more quickly than previously anticipated, a meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) in St Louis in the US state of Missouri was told.
The scientists predicted global average temperatures will increase by between one and six degrees Celsius this century unless urgent action is taken to cap and reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
