Seadrill has reached an agreement to place the drillship West Carina in warm stacking at the Acu port and industrial terminal in Brazil.

The West Carina recently concluded its three-year contract with a Petrobras-led consortium on the Mero project, but Seadrill is marketing the unit in an ongoing tender for ultra-deepwater rigs on the same project.

International drilling companies rarely stack their rigs in Brazil, due to complaints about red tape and unseen costs, but Dome, a joint venture between Acu port owner Prumo Logistica and GranIHC, was able to offer Seadrill an attractive deal that covers an initial period of 90 days and additional topside maintenance services.
