German operator Dea's Norwegian unit has come up dry with an exploration well at its Graaspett prospect in the Barents Sea.

The 7321/4-1 well was drilled by Odfjell Drilling's Island Innovator unit, about 105 kilometres west of the Wisting oil discovery, 350 kilometres north-west of Hammerfest.

The Norwegian Petroleum Directorate confirmed the probe was unsuccessful, saying that it hit about 15 metres of aquiferous sandstone in the Sto formation and another 32 metres of tight aquiferous sandstone in the secondary Snadd formation.
