So far, results of the Project 20K study with BP supports the development of a 20,000 psi BOP solution on board a drillship — not a semi-submersible drilling unit — according to Maersk Drilling chief executive Claus Hemmingsen.
“There is still a lot of work to be done to develop a fully integrated rig for 20K BOP operations,” Hemmingsen said.
He did not comment further on the timeline or progress of the BP studies.
