Two Chinese yards have already been lined up to carry out pre-front engineering and design studies on the generic hulls for the floating production, storage and offloading vessels that Equinor intends to install at the Carcara field and potentially elsewhere in Brazil.
Sources said Equinor has signed up with Japanese floater specialist Modec and Dutch rival SBM to lead the two separate studies.
