Italy’s Eni and Kazakhstan state-owned KazMunaiGaz have entered into an initial agreement to proceed with exploring the promising Abay block in Kazakhstan’s Caspian Sea waters.
Abay lies in shallow waters close to the Kalamkas discovery that forms part of the North Caspian project, which includes the giant Kashagan oilfield operated by Eni.
The Italian company also holds a 50% interest in the neighbouring Isatay exploration acreage.
