Two players are competing for a Nkr4 billion ($450 million) contract covering the subsea hardware on Vaar Energi's Balder X project off Norway.

Industry sources told Upstream that competitors for the integrated subsea order are GE-controlled Baker Hughes and TechnipFMC.

While TechnipFMC typically handles both SPS and SURF work alone, it is not yet clear which partner Baker Hughes has teamed up with for the SURF scope.
