The Dutch gas regulator has called for a major reduction in production from the NAM-operated Groningen gas field to limit the risk of earthquakes that have blighted the region and ensure the safety of inhabitants.
The Dutch State Supervision of Mines (SSM) advised the government on Thursday to reduce gas production from 21.6 billion cubic metres per annum to 12 Bcm per annum.
