East African partners in the proposed pipeline project to carry Uganda crude exports through Tanzania to the Indian Ocean port of Tanga have agreed that any disputes arising may be decided by international arbitration in London, not in Tanzania.
Tanzania had always insisted it must host arbitral proceedings on disputes arising from the project.
However, a legal executive at the Uganda National Oil Company has confirmed that Tanzania has now accepted inclusion of an international arbitration clause, according to local media.
