OILFIELD services giant Schlumberger and Chinese state entity Sinopec are both edging close to new oil producing deals in Ecuador, offering a lifeline to the struggling Andean nation.
Schlumberger already has several service contracts with state-run Petroamazonas. However, it is also one of several companies that have seen payments suspended on a clutch of recently signed fee-paying contracts for incremental production.
