Egyptian Oil Minister Hamdi El-Banbi said EGPC would initially concentrate international exploration efforts in the region but more deals will follow and it could in time start to operate further afield. All three of the companies that have signed deals with EGPC so far already have significant activities in Egypt.
EGPC looks to spread out
THE EGYPTIAN General Petroleum Corporation has signed agreements with Spain's Repsol and Italy's Edison and Eni to explore for oil and gas outside of Egypt in the Middle East and North Africa.
