BP has begun the “last leg” of the relief well that will secure the Macondo blowout in the US Gulf once and for all, head of the US spill response Thad Allen said.
The crew of Transocean’s semi-submersible rig Development Driller 3 were drilling ahead this week after completing what is likely to be their final ranging run and were drilling the last 20 to 25 feet to the interception point of the Macondo well, Allen told reporters at a briefing.
