In the past year the system has been given a thorough workout, first at an onshore well in Italy and then offshore Egypt. Both these jobs were for operator Eni, one of the seven companies that funded the four-year joint industry project that gave birth to this rig floor pressure containment device.
Other participants are also now moving on to take a turn with the second and third units to emerge from National Oilwell Varco´s manufacturing plant in Houston.
