The onshore permit — which expired in November last year — has now been extended to February 2016, which is expected to give EnerGulf enough time to drill at least one exploration well.
Seven prospects have been mapped on the block based on 400 kilometres of 2D seismic, half of which was shot in 2011.
EnerGulf is in talks with companies interested in farming into the acreage.
