Singapore-based Energy Drilling has made the first downpayment to the yard for the turnkey rig construction contract covering the supply of the derrick equipment set on the GustoMSC Ocean 400 TD design semi-tender, EDrill-3.
The rig is being built to work alongside specialised deep-water trussed spars, tension-leg platforms and compliant towers outside of benign environments.
The drilling unit is designed to allow for fast mobilisation under adverse weather conditions and is also well-suited for production drilling in shallow water.
