The 1975-built FSO Cilacap Permina Samudra 104 caught fire when it was stationed around one mile offshore Tanjung Pemancingan, Kotabaru, South Kalimantan.
The body of the 50-year old chief engineer was found in the engine room where the fire, believed to have been caused by an electrical fault, is said to have started.
Local reports said that the floater was storing fuel oil when the blaze broke out.
