The US supermajor has plans for a potential surfactant polymer flooding project at Minas, which lies close to the Duri field onshore Sumatra.
The STF-2 project will study the economic feasibility of surfactant polymer flooding, using a newly modified chemical system that would target the remaining oil in place and extend the economic life of the ageing field.
The STF-2 project off-plot includes six chemical injection wells, six confining water injection wells, one S-sand monitoring well and six monitoring wells, while the on-plot facilities will include surfactant system mixing, polymer and sodium carbonate mixing and production and injection facilities.
