Italy's Eni plans to restart exploration drilling off Timor-Leste early next year, writes Russell Searancke.
The operator has invested in Timor-Leste since 2006, but has not drilled an exploration well for several years.
Eni Australia managing director Ernie Delfos said the company plans to drill the Kanase-1 prospect in Block JPDA 11-106 in early 2019.
He said the prospect looks similar to the Kitan oil discovery made by Eni 10 years ago that subsequently had a four-year productive life.
