Italian operator Eni posted marginally higher profits in the first quarter despite lower production.
The Italian major notched up an adjusted net profit of €992 million ($1.11 billion), versus €978 million a year earlier, fuelled by a 16% hike in net profit for its exploration and production business to €1.071 billion. Output was an average of 1.832 million barrels of oil equivalent per day during the latest quarter, down 1.9% year-on-year.
