Eni is “studying the possibility of an early production phase” for its Amoca shallow-water field, in the Bay of Campeche, off Mexico, where the Italian player is currently drilling a second well.
The new well, Amoca-3, is being drilled in an un-explored area, which “might add further reserves”, chief executive Claudio Descalzi said.
The company has already successfully drilled the Amoca-2 well, finding oil on several levels “with a meaningful upside to original estimates”.
