The US offshore driller has also taken delivery of the second rig, Ensco 8501, from the yard at Keppel Fels in Singapore, the builder of the 8500 series.
The Ensco 8501 is expected to leave soon on a 50-day mobilisation to the US Gulf, where it will undergo deep-water sea trials and final outfitting before a mid-October start to its three-and-a-half-year drilling contract with Nexen and Noble Energy.
