Houston-based EOG told Seneca, a division of National Fuel Gas Company, that it does not think it will drill the 40 wells required to earn additional acreage under the joint venture.
The move is not a complete surprise, as Seneca had already told EOG that it was cutting back its own participation in the wells to cover only its 20% overriding royalty interest.
