EOG has been very active in East Texas over the past couple of years, amassing more than 250,000 acres around Smith, Anderson, Cherokee, Henderson, Houston and Leon counties, where many believe it is chasing the Goodland Lime, in addition to a position to the south-west in Walker, Grimes and Madison counties, where it is developing the Eaglebine play targeting the stacked Woodbine Sands, Eagle Ford shale and other tight oil targets.
