The US unconventional specialist has just finished fracturing its Cowan Unit 1H horizontal well in Smith County, Texas, according to local sources, and should begin production testing soon.
The well was drilled vertically to about 8800 feet with a 4500-foot lateral by the Helmerich & Payne 417 rig, according to state records.
It appears to be targeting the Goodland Lime and possibly the Kiamichi shale formations at the juncture of Smith, Anderson, Cherokee and Henderson counties in a remote part of East Texas.
