EQT has closed on its $6.7 billion acquisition of Rice Energy, creating the largest natural gas company in the US and a giant presence in the Marcellus shale play.
The deal boosts the company's core acreage in the unconventional position from 187,000 acres to 670,000 acres, and allows for the drilling of much longer laterals at wells in Greene and Washington counties in Pennsylvania.
