Norwegian operator Equinor has yet again cut costs for its Johan Sverdrup development and expects to reach plateau production from the flagship project several months earlier than planned.

The giant North Sea field is on track for start-up in November and is likely to reach the plateau target of about 440,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day in the summer of 2020, rather than within 12 months as originally estimated, chief financial officer Lars Christian Bacher said as he presented Equinor’s second-quarter results.
