Norwegian operator Equinor is working towards awarding pre-front-end engineering and design contracts to two contenders for the topsides contract for the Bay du Nord development off Newfoundland, Canada in August.
Equinor has since April been reviewing early topsides studies for a floating production, storage and offloading unit for the 300-million-barrel field from three different groups — a Norwegian pairing consisting of Aker Solutions and Kvaerner, and the two international pairs of Wood with Kiewit and TechnipFMC with Worley.
