Houston-based Anadarko Petroleum Corporation has reviewed an aeromagnetic survey and a 4500-kilometre seismic programme and is weighing its options. The company is committed to drill one well under a 1995 pact but will likely sink two or three. It hopes to bring a rig down from the nearby Gulf of Suez for a well in the last quarter of this year, although locating one may be a problem as many are already tied up for long periods.
